Back from Cold Stone

We took Andrew up for some Cold Stone and snapped this little picture to share.

Summer time and the . . .

Well you know the rest. . .





My garden is coming along with corn, oregano, basil, butternut squash, habenero peppers, and giant pumpkins. Keeping the weeds at bay has been a chore. The rain has been good and it has been helping the plants stay strong this summer





Gus -- yes I have a dog -- has a bath today because, well, he needed it. He smells much better now. I washed him with some watermelon shampoo and as soon as he stops smelling like wet dog he can come back in the house.

I went over and helped my brother at his place to do some woodwork and finishing of the garage.

The baby went to Reis park with his mom while we were working and we are getting ready to head over for some Cold Stone up the road. Summer is hard!

Happy Birthday America

We are celebrating the fourth of July by grilling and hanging out together. My brother is off on some adventure and my parents have flown to Croatia on a two week vacation. We are enjoying the beginning of summer and have started winding down from a busy year.



Anne will be back at IS 52 this year as an Assistant Principal leading the troops of 7th graders toward 8th grade and the move up to high school. Drew is enetering a new school in the fall. His new school is Kinsbridge international High School in the Bronx. The school is geared for new arrivals and is made up entirely of new immigrants. He is very excited about starting this opportunity.



Andrew is talking up a storm and is having a blast staying home with his parents who are at his beckon call throughout the summer. He is planning on taking a long van ride with his Pecunia grand parents to see some cool sites around the area.

Andrew is very excited about getting a plane to go see his Seattle grandparents. We will be gone in late July and early August to spend some time seeing family and friends in Seattle. It promises to be a great time with Scottish Festivals, visiting of family and friends and some rest and relaxation.

It will be the first time in 6 months that most of the family and friends will have seen Andrew and a lot has changed.

Well it is off to the grill! :)



HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Uncle Jim

When I was a kid I remember all of the good times with my Uncle Jim. He had a house in Croton-on-Hudson New York. My Uncle is the type of guy who always gave sound advice, tried to instill good values and was always willing to give you a tip when it came to soccer. Though he was ever the career man he always made time for others.

As I grew older I grew to admire the man who had become such a success. His star rose quickly and brightly at Melon bank and I remember seeing his house in Philadelphia as a teen and wanting to be a success just like him.








Although his life took him on travels around the globe as an international banker -- I alway felt as if when he visited with his family that Westchester was home base. As I grew older I learned to appreciate the fact that he always made time for all of the special events in my life.

As he sits now fighting his final battle with Pancreatic Cancer I pray for him. I love you Uncle Jim.

Uncle Jim passed away on Saturday. We will all miss him.
